For years I had problems with my Atheros L1 Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T card every time I decided to give it a new chance. It would usually freeze up on me within seconds when uploading data with it.
But today I finally stumbled upon a solution:
By deactivating "Task Offload" the card started working properly again immediately after being reactivated.
